Leapin Lizards diabetes quilt

Leapin' Lizards 2 was sent to Maddison in Peoria, AZ.  Maddison is a sweet little girl, age 6, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on 12/04/2006.

The quilt was made by Lahle from Islets of Hope and shipped 01/29/2007 to Maddison.

PS. It was nice to meet a little girl who loves lizards as much as I do!

Kevin was diagnosed with type 1 at age 15, at a routine annual physical.  He had no notable symptoms and we suspected nothing.  The pediatrician did a urine glucose screen by chance, and called us in to repeat it.  We went to a hospital clinic the next day for diagnosis and education, and Kevin started insulin injections that night.  Quite a life-changing event for a teenager who had been thankfully healthy up to then!  He gave his own injections from the start and has caught on fast to the many things to learn to do.  We are proud of him, but know it is not an easy journey.

From the Heart

From the Hearts is being completed especially for Dani, age 10, in British Columbia.  02/21/07

Dani was diagnosed when she was five years old .... by accident!

"From the Heart" was donated by a talented seamstress named Jocelyn Siegel.  She gave us four magnificant quilt tops she was working on for her own children.  She felt that her quilts would be loved and appreciated by children with diabetes -- she was right! This was a large, bed-sized quilt.  Thank you Jocelyn!
